Today we are at Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon for the unveiling of a number of new innovations. Working with a design ethos Nike calls “Nature Amplified,” the first innovation to be revealed is Nike Free Hyperfeel. Using pressure-mapping technology and high-speed film, Nike scientists carefully studied the motion of the foot to design a sneaker with natural movement in mind. Encapsulating all the best in innovation from the Beijing Olympics (2008) to modern day, the sneaker mixes Nike’s Flyknit and Flywire technology with an ultra-thin, waffle outsole. The sock-like Hyperfeel is about as close to barefoot as Nike will take you, placing the foot directly on top of articulated Lunarlon foam, which mirrors the cushioning in Nike Free footwear. This allows for the shoe to act as an extension of the foot, giving the wearer maximum feel. The shoe is also an impressive feat in minimal construction: where a typical Air Pegasus running shoe is made up of 57 components, the Nike Free Hyperfeel has just seven. The Nike Free Hyperfeel will release beginning September 5.
